Children from socially disadvantaged background, struggle a lot to achieve even if they have capacities and talent. They lack behind in spite of being talented. With a strong belief in the competence of children, we started our project with municipal schools & slum communities in Thane & Jalgaon. Our education projects are clubbed under Program ‘Akshar’.

The objective of Akshar program is to create an interest among the children for education and to bring aspirations through soft skills enhancement, self-confidence building and support in post school education.

The brief about the initiatives under Akshar Program are as below:

Parivartan: Students from lower socio-economic class of the society tend to lag behind in the competitive world in spite of being meritorious, because they lack self confidence. Soft skills of the students are enhanced through series of sessions under this project. Below listed are the main components of project.

This uniqueness of this project implementation is carried out by trained volunteers from EMCO ltd and external faculties these volunteers are trained by reputed institute for quality results.

The project has made an impact over 6420 students of 8th, 9th and 10th std from Municipal schools of Jalgaon & Thane and one school operated by a trust. This project has witnessed grater impact on students who were low in confidence and lack of courage to speak in public. Students have demonstrated their improved skills in school classes as well during project evaluation. The tangible impact of the project is improvement in academic performance.

Not only students but also volunteers have benefited a lot with this project. This has helped teachers in their teaching and children management.

Shiksha: Project aims to create interest among children for education through joyful teaching & encourage parents to enroll children in school for continued education.

The project is implemented in slums of Thane & Jalgaon. To have the grater impact the classes are established in the community settlements and the teacher is selected from the same area. Teachers’ capacity is periodically enhanced through regular training and participations in developing improved teaching aid. Parents meeting are organized to encourage them for continuity of their children in class & develop their understanding on importance of education for betterment of their child.

Project reaches out 5823 slum children in Thane and Jalgaon with skills development in English, Arithmetic and the Regional languages. This programme’s additional success has been the parents of children feeling inspired to enroll their children in mainstream of education.

Children of age 6 to 14 years are taught on basics of English, Marathi, and Mathematics. The teaching aid includes display cards, charts and interactive teaching methods like games, songs, reading are applied for effective results. This project is implemented with the help of “Pratham”

In addition to this 1124 tribal children are supported in the Thane District through a NGO Friends of Tribal Society in a holistic programme encompassing education, health and other enrichment aspects.

"Yashasvi" Through this project we recognize the success of the student in the SSC Board exam by giving rewards & scholarship upto Rs 5000/- per year till graduation to continue after school education.

Projects provide supports to first top 10 students & next top 10 Girls Students of SSC board Exam from Municipal Schools of Thane and Jalgaon and a trust run School in Jalgaon.

141 SSC students have been supported with Scholarship under this project.
